About Artemis Vitality
Artemis Vitality is a mobile Veterinary Physiotherapy clinic based in Upminster, serving Essex & surrounding areas of the South East. Owned and run by Charlotte, a fully qualified, RAMP-registered veterinary physiotherapist with an MSc in Veterinary Physiotherapy from Anglia Ruskin University and Writtle University.
I was pushed into the world of veterinary physiotherapy in 2016 when my 11 year old German Shepherd was diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy. Physiotherapy helped increase his lifespan from a predicted 3 months to another year, keeping him more active and comfortable during his final months. This exposure led me to pursue a career in veterinary physiotherapy, where I could combine my love for animals with a desire to make a real difference in their lives.
My career as a physiotherapist is dedicated to helping animals heal, regain their strength and reach their full potential, focusing on providing the highest quality of care to each client.
My Approach
My holistic approach is based around improving the route problem of pain and injuries. Understanding that each animal is unique, with their own personality, needs and challenges allows me to create personalised plans that best target the issues and supports their recovery. I focus on building trust with both animals and their owners, creating a calm and positive environment where they feel safe and comfortable. Communication with owners is a key part of my approach, working closely with owners and other veterinary professionals, leading to better outcomes. It’s important to me that all owners understand the rehabilitation process and feel comfortable asking questions.
My sessions utilise a blend of hands-on techniques to targeted exercises, all designed to improve mobility, relieve pain, restore function and achieve peak performance. I also incorporate innovative therapeutic and electrotherapeutic tools when beneficial, aiming to achieve the best outcomes through a blend of proven methods and the latest advancements in the field supported by peer-reviewed research.
Ultimately, my goal is to help each animal regain their mobility and joy in movement, whether they are a competitive athlete, a retired racehorse, or a family pet recovering from surgery. Seeing them return to doing what they love, whether it’s running through fields or simply enjoying a pain-free walk, is what makes this work so rewarding.
My Experience
Throughout my studies and career, I’ve gained extensive experience in assessing and treating musculoskeletal conditions, creating personalized treatment plans, and utilizing advanced techniques to aid recovery. My background has equipped me with the skills needed to support animals through injury recovery, post-operative care, and performance enhancement. I have a particular interest in racehorse rehabilitation and canine orthopaedics, understanding their unique needs and working closely with owners and veterinary teams to achieve the best outcomes.
Meet My Animals
When not working, I’m kept busy by my own animals at home. My 1-year-old German Shepherd Kaia is always ready for the next adventure, keeping me on my toes and reminding me of the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I also own a retired Clydesdale, who now gets to enjoy the full benefit of my treatments, staying comfortable and active in her golden years.
